With over 25 years of service to Pine Bluff, Dr. Lum has an active Dermatology practice, in addition to voluntary service to UAMS Department of Dermatology, Jefferson Regional Medical Center and the Arkansas Area Health Education Centers. Dr. Lum has been a Board Certified Dermatologist since 1977, and a state-licensed physician in Arkansas for over 30 years.
A native Arkansan, Dr. Lum was born in Blytheville in 1946. He was raised with a strong work ethic, and pursued the sciences and mathematics at an early age. After graduating from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor of science in Chemistry, he was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army.
Graduating from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1972, Dr. Lum was promoted to Captain in the US Army Medical Corps. He continued seven more years of service in the military at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Washington, D.C. and Martin Army Hospital, Fort Benning, Georgia. Dr. Lum served as the Chief Resident at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and was Chief, Department of Dermatology and the Chief, Department of Medicine at the US Army MEDDAC, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Receiving an honorable discharge and the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service, Dr. Lum completed his active duty with the rank of Major.
In 2004, Dr. Lum was inducted into the Arkansas American Legion Boys State Hall of Fame.
